Tomorrow is election day. Tomorrow, marriage equality in Maryland will be determined by voters like you, and it’s very close.
It’s critical that we get every vote we can, and opponents of fairness and equality are spending big to spread lies. If you still have friends on the fence about why they should vote FOR Question 6, share these facts with them.
FACT: Question 6 has cast-iron religious protections, and protects religious freedom better than ever. The ballot language itself says, “protects clergy from having to perform any particular marriage ceremony in violation of their religious beliefs.”
Here’s how Prince George’s County Mount Ennon’s Baptist Church Reverend Delman Coates explains it, “I support this law because it does not force any church to perform a same-sex marriage if it’s against their beliefs.”
FACT: Teachers decide what’s taught in school, and parents teach their kids values at home. Question 6 doesn’t do anything to schools.
Here’s how Baltimore County teacher Pamela Gaddy explains it, “I’ve been a teacher for 16 years, and I know, Question 6 has nothing to do with what’s taught in a classroom.”
FACT: Question 6 is about fairness and making sure that everyone is protecting equally under the law. That’s it.
Here’s how former Delegate Todd Schuler explains it, “ I’m not going to be the guy who looks his friends in the eye and tells them I voted against treating them fairly. That’s why I’m voting for Question 6.”
