Standing up for equality and fairness

My godfather, the late Martin Luther King, Jr., said “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

While no two movements that lead towards greater equality are ever the same, my father Ralph Abernathy and “Uncle Martin” always taught me that standing up for greater equality, greater justice and greater inclusion under civil law is always the right thing to do.

That is why I urge all Marylanders of all creeds, backgrounds, traditions and histories to stand together tomorrow. We have a chance, once again, to stand for what is right, for what is fair and what is just.
